Personal Mail
As a convenience for Missouri State University employees, various locations are provided across the campus for mailing personal outgoing mail which has your own postage affixed. It is picked up daily by our Campus Postal Service. However, personal incoming mail of any kind (1st class, etc) is prohibited campuswide, especially catalogs and magazines of a non-business nature.
Personal Phone Calls
Personal phone calls should be kept to a minimum during office hours and not interfere with work responsibilities. Employees are especially reminded not to use the University’s telephone system for making outgoing long distance calls which are personal in nature and are charged to the University’s phone bill. Steps should be taken to insure that such calls are charged to your own long distance calling cards. If the University’s long distance system is used for personal long distance calls without advance approval, employees are subject to punishment including financial compensation to the College and the University.
E-mail and other Computer Resources
University employees should consider it a privilege to have at their disposal a very powerful information technology tool to enhance University communications, build a sense of community, and carry out University business. All authorized users are expected to use the e-mail and information technology system in a responsible, acceptable manner as described in the University’s Information Technology Policy at http://www.missouristate.edu/oit/policy. If the misuse of e-mail and other computer resources should be determined, it could result in various penalties to the staff member including immediate disabling of computer resources and disciplinary action including dismissal, civil action or prosecution.
