Reporting of Leave Time: Annual Leave, Sick

Payroll Information: Time Sheets/Cards and Pay Checks
Time sheets/time cards. Classified staff must accurately complete the time sheet (or time card for part-time staff) and see that it is turned in by the appropriate deadline to be assured of receiving compensation at the time expected. A memo via e-mail is usually sent out to all classified staff approximately five working days prior to the month’s deadline. Your sheet/card must be signed by your director, then forwarded to the dean’s office the last working day of the month.
Pay check distribution. Since Missouri State University employees have their compensation deposited electronically to a designated financial institution and do not receive "hard copy" paychecks, Automatic Deposit Forms must be completed by each staff member. New staff normally make these arrangements during the orientation provided by Human Resources.
Reporting of Leave Time: Annual Leave, Sick Leave, and "Comp Time"
(Not applicable for part-time, 1000 hr. staff members)
Missouri State University has generous policies for allowing employees to accrue vacation leave, sick leave, personal leave, family and medical leave, funeral leave, and others. The University also provides a large number of paid holidays each year so that staff can enjoy quality time with their friends and families. In return, University staff are expected to be responsible citizens of the University community and to submit appropriate leave forms in order to request leave and to accurately report leave already taken.
The University has also established specific policies for accruing and utilizing compensatory or "comp" time, especially as these policies relate to employees in nonexempt positions as described by federal wage and hour laws. When EC staff have work responsibilities that may require them to accrue comp time, they are expected to have the advance approval of their supervisor and/or director. Likewise, when an employee anticipates using earned comp time instead of taking annual leave, he/she is expected to have maintained communications with his/her supervisor so that the latter will be aware that the employee, indeed, has comp time available.
