Reporting of Leave Time: Annual Leave, Sick Leave, and "Comp

Missouri State University has generous policies for allowing employees to accrue vacation
leave, sick leave, personal leave, family and medical leave, funeral
leave, and others. The University also provides a large number of
paid holidays each year so that staff can enjoy quality time with
their friends and families. In return, University staff are expected
to be responsible citizens of the University community and to submit
appropriate leave forms in order to request leave and to accurately
report leave already taken.
The University has also established specific policies for accruing
and utilizing compensatory or "comp" time, especially
as these policies relate to employees in nonexempt positions as
described by federal wage and hour laws. When EC staff have work
responsibilities that may require them to accrue comp time, they
are expected to have the advance approval of their supervisor and/or
director. Likewise, when an employee anticipates using earned comp
time instead of taking annual leave, he/she is expected to have
maintained communications with his/her supervisor so that the latter
will be aware that the employee, indeed, has comp time available.
