Core Values
The Effective Extended Campus Organization
We believe in a the Extended Campus organization that is firmly
committed to quality and excellence. An effective Extended Campus
organization will be goal-oriented, dynamic, innovative, supportive
of new ideas, and skillful at managing its resources.
We believe that personal integrity and honesty are essential for
developing constructive and collaborative working relationships
with others. The most creative work environment will be characterized
by teamwork, mutual respect, and open communications. In carrying
out its mission, members of an effective Extended Campus organization
will exemplify a customer service philosophy that enthusiastically
serves students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members.
The University and Its Public Affairs Mission
We believe that an institution of higher education requires an
environment that encourages freedom of inquiry and the free exchange
of ideas in order to most effectively accomplish its mission.
Missouri State University is a public, metropolitan university
with a commitment to outreach and a statewide mission in public
affairs. As such, Missouri State University has a unique opportunity and a special obligation
to serve the community in which we live and to address the problems
which characterize our physical and social environments.
The Individual and Society
We believe that the world is increasingly characterized by rapid
change, the pervasive impact of technology, and the convergence
of diverse cultures and belief systems. In this environment, it
is essential that we continue to affirm our belief in the dignity
and the worth of the individual, and that we demonstrate this belief
through a respect for diversity and the concern we show for others.
To succeed in such a world, individuals and organizations must develop
open attitudes toward change, adaptive skills, and global perspectives.
A democratic society requires an educated populace in order to
live up to its true promise and should strive to provide each individual
with opportunities to realize his/her fullest potential. Each individual
must share in the responsibility for creating and enhancing those
opportunities through a commitment to learning, self-motivation
and personal growth, and thus be prepared for both lifelong learning
and lifelong productivity.
