Student Profile: Jennifer Evans College is by no means a walk in the park, it is challenging and sometimes hard but it is also fun and rewarding. While I am closer in age to my instructors than I am most students, I do not find that to be a problem. It seems that I relate easier to the instructors because I am older and they treat me like an adult. The fun part about college is that the student population is so diverse and lacks the constraints of public schools regulations. I know how impossible it can seem when it comes to re-entering school, but there are so many resources available to the nontraditional student that there is no reason to not go. Adult Student Services is available at nearly all colleges and they are very resourceful and willing to do whatever is within their capability to help nontraditional students. I have dealt with them here and at a community college in Arkansas and know that without them to help smooth the way I think I would have given up somewhere during the registration process. I think the best advice I can give to anyone our age that is dreaming of returning to school to better their lives is "quit dreaming and start doing." If you set your mind to it you can find the time, resources, support, and balance needed to make it a reality.
