Financial Aid and Scholarships

diploma laying on moneyFinancing the educational expenses of an adult student presents special challenges for the student and the Financial Aid office. Often times, adult students have been out in the real world and incurred liabilities (i.e., home mortgages) which are not recognized in the application for federal and state aid. Therefore, it becomes even more imperative that adult students apply for aid by the required deadline (March 31) to increase their chances of receiving the best aid package possible. For the easiest and fastest application filling, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Another challenge can be the management of your financial aid funds. Since the awards are disbursed to students at the beginning of each semester, budgeting until the next aid disbursement is critical. Several web sites address these types of issues. We recommend

http://www.mapping-your-future.org/ which has several “Financial Fitness Tools” that you can use to manage your finances.
