Career Services: Plan Ahead to Succeed
Perhaps a quote from Benjamin Franklin is appropriate. He said, “Remember time is money”. May we suggest that if your goal for coming back to college is to enjoy a satisfying career upon graduation (and have money), making “time” for career planning can get you money sooner rather than later. How? Good planning helps keep you focused on your priorities, perform the tasks that prepare you for career success and thus enable you to stay on track to reach your career goals. What are the necessary steps you can take to adequately set yourself up for a successful career? Career Services has a timeline of preparation activities below that, when followed, will enhance your readiness. When these steps are taken in a timely manner, you will most likely feel more confident and prepared to enter the job market. Paul J. Meyer put it well, “Plan your progress carefully, hour-by-hour, day-by-day, month-by-month. Organized activity and maintained enthusiasm are the wellsprings of your power.” |
