Student Classifications at Missouri State University
Undergraduate degree-seeking students are classified according
to the number of credit hours earned, as follows:
Freshmen (FR) 0 – 29 hrs earned
Sophomores (SO) 30 – 59 hrs earned
Juniors (JR) 60 – 89 hrs earned
Seniors (SR) 90+ hrs earned
Non-degree-seeking undergraduate classifications are the following:
Pre-college (PC) highly qualified high school juniors or seniors
Non-degree seeking (ND) hours earned may vary but has not attained
baccalaureate degree, and is not presently working on baccalaureate
degree at Missouri State University – could
include students visiting from other institutions and planning to transfer
Missouri State University course work back toward their degree program elsewhere.
Non-degree-seeking graduate classifications include the following:
Postbaccalaureate (PB)
non-degree seeking, but has earned baccalaureate degree in the
past. This classification
includes Teacher
Certification seeking certification in an education
area
Degree-seeking Graduate classifications include the following:
Graduate Masters (GM) seeking Masters degree at Missouri State University
Graduate
Specialist (GS) Masters degree has been earned, now
seeking specialist certificate in education
Doctorate
in Educational Leadership (GD) seeking Doctorate degree
